The programme was organized in collaboration with the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) and the Ankleshwar Industries Association (AIA) and saw active participation from their members.

More than 30 manufacturers and entrepreneurs from Ankleshwar and Surat, most of them from the chemical industry, participated in the programme.  During the event IP experts gave presentations on various aspects of documentation needed for filing applications for various IP rights especially patents and clarified questions from the participants on patents and trademarks. The programme also included a brief about various hand holding initiatives of the Ministry of MSME under the IPR Scheme of NMCP.

President of SGCCI, Shri Rohit Mehta and President of AIA and Director of Nilkanth Group of Industries Shri. Vipul Gajera ointly inaugurated the programme.

FISME was represented by Mr Karamjeet Singh, Deputy Director (IPR) and Mr Pankaj Kumar Legal Officer (IPR) of FISME’s  IPR Facilitation Centre in New Delhi. The presentations were given in Hindi so that the MSMEs could understand the legalities of IPR more precisely which was very well received by the participants.

Through these programmes, FISME has been making micro, small and medium enterprises understand the importance of protecting their intellectual property and what benefits that can accrue from such protection. Following the success of this event FISME and SGCCI have decided in principle to organize such events in Valsad and Vapi in Gujarat in the near future.
