The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) in order to deliberate upon the structure and services for the online market based Intellectual Property Right Exchange portal, organised a stakeholder consultation workshops on “IPR Exchange for MSMEs” on March 8, 2013 in Bangalore and on 13th March in Hyderabad.

FISME with support of Development Commissioner-MSME is serving the needs of protecting intellectual assets of Small and Medium Enterprises through its Intellectual Property Facilitation Centres (IPFC) for MSMEs at Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Business enterprises - small or large are increasingly becoming knowledge intensive. Rising competitions are imposing businesses to innovate and develop new products and processes.

Creation, management and protection of such innovations, therefore, is critical to stay ahead of competition.

In order to strengthen the Intellectual Property, FISME has joined hands with the Economic & Trade Policy Division of British High Commission to create an “IPR Exchange for MSMEs” in India.

An online market based mechanism has been created to facilitate commercial exchange of IPRs enabling Sale, licensing, franchising etc.

The objective of the workshop has been to seek feedback from various stakeholders on the broad contours of this initiative and to evolve a future road map for its operationalization.
