Event Details

The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) in collaboration with Partapur Industrial Manufacturers’ Association (PIEMA) organized an Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Programme in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on January 31, 2012, as part of the IPR component of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP) of the Ministry of MSMEs, Government of India.

The programme was attended by more than 40 entrepreneurs and manufacturers who went back immensely satisfied from what they learnt at the seminar. While IP experts and speakers made the entrepreneurs aware of the benefits of IP intervention in the MSME sector, an interactive session that followed allowed participants to ask many questions about the various components of the IPR Scheme and also about the significance of various IP tools such as Geographical Indications (GI), Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, industrial designs etc. for the growth of business. Most participants requested the organizers FISME & MIDFO to organise more such interactive sessions in the near future.

The seminar had the objective of creating a platform for MSME units in and around Meerut and to help the participants to interact with IP Experts/speakers to understand the methodology and benefits of IP tools in their business, products, processes, services and operations. The programme also tried to generate awareness about Intellectual property and the various hand holding initiatives of the Ministry of MSME under the IP Scheme of DC (MSME).

The programme was graced by the presence of Sri V K Jain (AGM SBI); Mr. SP Jain (Secretary General MIDFO), Sri Girish Kumar (Vice President MIDFO), Sri Yogesh Bansal (President PIEMA) and other noted entrepreneurs. The technical session was taken up by Sri Rahul Dev (Techcorp Legal) and Vijay Kumar Gupta (Advocate Supreme Court), They conducted an interactive session comprising presentation on IP tools and one-to-one interaction with the participants. In their presentation, they told the participants about the importance of Geographical indications for the Meerut Scissor clusters and other tools like trademark & industrial design.
