FISME helps organise climate change training programme

FISME helped the German international cooperation organisation GIZ to organise an awareness cum capacity building programme on December 7, 2011 The supply chains, of which SMEs are important part, are to increasingly get impacted by Climate Change and also by the related international treaties on reducing emissions.  All progressive companies need to identify the risks and plan to mitigate them. Also, government schemes and laws are evolving that seek to minimize climate change risks for the Indian society and economy and that need to be anticipated by businesses.

In this regard, an Awareness Raising and Capacity Building Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation and Businesses was organised on 07th December 2011 at Hotel Jaypee Vasant Continental, New Delhi.

The programme was organised by GIZ, India Office in association with Adelphi (Germany) & FISME. The objective of the programme was to apprise the participants about the risks of the climate change to business entities and the climate change impacts are also creating business opportunities that can be realised – new products and services are to be developed that address changing needs by various adaptation and mitigation efforts.

The programme was graced by the presence of Mr. Anil Bhardwaj (Secretary General FISME), Mr. Manfred Habig (director Private Sector Development GIZ), Mikael Henzler (MD, Adelphi), Mr. Amit Kumar (Snr Technical Expert, GIZ) and other participants from the SME sector

The participants were introduced to the background of climate change and why it matters to businesses, as well as the most important adaptation concepts. You will also be presented a newly developed E-Learning Programme which will assist you in deepening your knowledge of Climate Change Adaptation.
